What Coaches Are Saying

Hear from the coaches who have worked with Joey throughout his youth and high school career.

  • Davis Diamond

    Head Coach American Heritage Delray

“I’ve had the pleasure of coaching Joey for the last two years at American Heritage Delray,  He’s the ultimate team player – someone you can trust to step into any role on the field and give everything he has for the team.  Joey has an incredible work ethic and is constantly putting in extra time to improve his game.  That dedication paid off this past season, as he led our offense with 41 goals and 17 assists while earning our offensive MVP Award.  Beyond his talent Joey is extremely reliable, coachable and an even better person off the field.  Any program would be fortunate to have him.”

  • Dr. Kristina Shahin

    Athletic Director American Heritage Delray

“I have known Joey since he was playing his first years of youth football.  In addition to being an incredible athlete in both football and lacrosse, he has always carried himself with humility, kindness and character.  He has also been a big help at our Summer Institute, always willing to jump into any task with a smile, positive attitude and genuine respect for everyone around him.  I couldn’t be prouder of the young man Joey has become and I know he has an incredibly bright future ahead.”

  • Craig Fleishman

Former American Heritage Delray Head Coach
    Fury Lacrosse Club Coach

"Joey is a high-IQ athlete and the kind of teammate every coach wants in a program. He is selfless, dependable, and team-oriented. Joey leads by example through his effort, preparation, and character, setting a positive standard for those around him."

  • Robert Clancy

    Wellington Wolfpack Coach

"Joey is a very coachable and hard-nosed player. His physicality on the field helps contribute to his team. I have coached Joey on and off over the years since he was seven years old, and he has always had a high IQ for the game."

  • Evan Kalish

    Stealth Travel Lacrosse Coach

"Joey's vision as an attackman is top level. When he dodges, his head is always up, ready to make his next move. His shot and release are extremely efficient, and he uses his body well to create scoring opportunities around the cage. Most importantly, Joey is an amazing young man both on and off the field."

  • Bryce Dalton

Assistant Coach Wellington High School, Ninjas Travel Coach, True Tropics Travel Coach

“Joey is an unselfish player who always puts the team first and will do whatever is asked of him at 100% effort every rep.  He is a powerful inside dodger with the ability to get his hands free in tight spaces to finish.  Joey has supreme knowledge of how offense works both on and off ball. Playing defense and midfield for a few years helped him really grasp the offensive side of the ball.  He is not afraid of contact and even seeks out contract.”

To Whom It May Concern,

I have coached Joey Mooney since he was 10 years old, starting with Wellington Wolfpack and continuing through the High School Ninjas and True Tropics travel program. Over the years, I’ve watched him grow into a dependable and versatile lacrosse player.

Joey can play both attack and defense, giving his coaches flexibility and making him a valuable teammate. He has a strong understanding of the game, good field awareness, and consistently makes smart decisions on the field.

One of Joey’s biggest strengths is that he is very coachable. He listens, accepts feedback, and works to improve. He comes to practice ready to work and puts the team’s success ahead of individual recognition.

I have enjoyed coaching Joey throughout his youth and high school career and believe he will be a positive addition to any college program. I recommend him with confidence and look forward to seeing what he accomplishes at the next level.

Sincerely,
Jason Heatherly Assistant Coach, Wellington High School Boys Lacrosse
President, Wellington Wolfpack Youth Lacrosse
